Handvo is a popular dish from Gujarati cuisine. This dish is full of protein as multiple types of daal and pulses are used to prepare it.   2. 1/3 cup tuvar daal
  3. 1/3 cup udad daal
  4. 1/3 cup moong daal
  5. 1 cup rice
  6. 1/3 cup curd
  7. 1 cup grated bottle guard
  8. To taste salt
  9. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  10. 1 tsp green chilli paate
  11. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  12. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  13. 4 tsp sesame seeds
  14. 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  15. 2 tbsp oil
  16. 1 tbsp dhaniya jeera powder
  17. 2 tsp red chilli powder
  18. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  19. 3-4 dry red chillies
  20. 2 tsp jeggery
  21. 1 tsp cooking soda
  22. 1 tbsp wheat chokar
  23. Pinch hing

Instructions to make to make Handvo

  1. Soak the daal and rice in sufficient water for at least 8 hours. Then remove the water and transfer it to a mixer jar. Grind it to a idli batter like consistency.
  2. Now add curd to it and whisk. Keep it for fermentation for next 7-8 hours.
  3. Add wheat chokar, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder dhaniya jeera powder, jeggery, ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste to it and mix well so that all masalas combined well.
  4. Take oil in a pan. Add Fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and sesame seeds and let it splutter. Add hing.
  5. Now add a laddlefull batter to it. Cover the pan and let it cook. Once it is crisp from one side turnover and let it get cooked from other side too.
  6. Crispy handvo is ready to serve. Enjoy it with your tea or have it in a dinner. You will surely like it.
